How to bend curved corners when bending sheet metal?

There are multiple methods, including advanced edge bending, flange bending, secondary profile bending, and layout bending. It specifically depends on the effect you want to achieve. Advanced bending can bend curved edges, but it is limited to unfolding in the plane only once; bending can only be in straight lines, not curves.

Layout is divided into basic and secondary layouts, and according to effects, it includes straight line and arc layouts. Any involvement with arc bending, arc pressing, and arc spatial layouts are complex issues. Many cannot be generated or unfolded during drawing. Straight line layouts are much easier to handle. A detail to note is that, in my attempt, drawing two lines and then applying the layout command to sheet metal was not successful; however, drawing two lines first and then applying the layout command worked, which is quite strange. Profile bending is divided into basic and secondary, categorized into straight and arc profile bending for effects. In many cases, basic profile bending separates from the base surface whether it's done on a straight line or a curve, whereas secondary profile bending merges with the base surface. Note that secondary profile bending can only be drawn in straight lines, not others. To achieve an arc profile, draw a straight line first and then change the bending radius. If an arc is drawn on a straight edge, the resulting secondary profile bending will not merge with the base surface; it remains separated. Arc bending, arc pressing, and arc spatial layouts are complex issues in drawing, and many cannot be generated or unfolded. Straight lines are much easier to handle. Overall, layout functionality is slightly more flexible than profile bending. As shown, it can also achieve complex three-dimensional spaces. Flange bending is more flexible but limited to flange use, with limited applications.

Profile bending machine product use: The profile bending machine is a more advanced profile forming equipment of the 21st century, widely used in the production of various circular flanges in industries such as automotive, elevators, petroleum, chemical, steel construction, machinery manufacturing, and others.

Profile bending machine features: The profile bending machine can complete the pre-bending, round rolling, and round correcting processes of the profile in one feeding; it has an advanced structure, complete functions, and can be placed vertically or horizontally according to user conditions.

Profile bending machine working principle: The profile bending machine is a linear downward adjustment type profile rolling machine. The two side rollers of the machine are the main drive rollers, or three working rollers can be the main drive rollers. The position of the upper roller is fixed, and the lower roller clamps the workpiece upwards to prevent section deformation. The two side rollers move up and down in a straight line corresponding to the upper roller, controlled by hydraulics, with displacement digitally displayed, which is beneficial for controlling the profile forming process. There are CNC supporting rollers and twisting correction devices on both sides, which help to ensure the rolling quality of asymmetric section profiles and the forming of double-curved workpieces.

The main difference between a hydraulic pipe bender and a hydraulic bending machine is their applications; the hydraulic pipe bender is for bending pipes, while the hydraulic bending machine bends plates.

A hydraulic bending machine includes a stand, a workbench, and a clamping board. The workbench is placed on the stand, consisting of a base and a pressing board. The base is connected to the clamping board by a hinge. The base comprises a base shell, coils, and a cover plate. The coil is placed inside the recess of the base shell, covered by the cover plate on top. When in use, the coil is electrified by a wire, generating a magnetic force that attracts the pressing board, thereby achieving the clamping of the thin plate between the pressing board and the base. The use of electromagnetic force for clamping allows the pressing board to be made according to various workpiece requirements and can process workpieces with side walls.

A hydraulic pipe bender is a new type of tool with both pipe bending and jacking functions. It has many advantages such as reasonable structure, safe use, convenient operation, reasonable price, quick loading and unloading, portability, and multi-use, occupying a large market share in China's hydraulic pipe bender market. It is mainly used in factories, warehouses, docks, construction, railways, automobiles, etc., for installing and repairing pipelines. Besides the pipe bending function, the bending components (oil cylinder) can also be removed and used as a separate hydraulic jack.
